The Maas-Timpert hall, which housed French prisoners of war during World War II, will serve as an emergency church in the coming years. In 1960, Auxiliary Bishop Baaken consecrated the new church of St. Johannes. In the summer of 2009, the southern parishes merged to form the new large parish of St. Agatha.
Hardly known anymore: A tram operated in Dorsten from 1921. The city center of Recklinghausen was the destination of the tram, with the local terminus located at Vestische Allee, approximately in the area of the large concrete block at today's Platz der Deutschen Einheit.
