La sala Maas-Timpert, en la que durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial estaban alojados prisioneros de guerra franceses, servirá en los próximos años como iglesia de emergencia. En 1960, el obispo auxiliar Baaken consagra la nueva iglesia de San Juan. En el verano de 2009, las parroquias del sur se fusionan para formar la nueva gran comunidad de Santa Águeda.
Ya casi desconocida: En Dorsten, desde 1921 circulaba un tranvía. El centro de Recklinghausen era el destino del tranvía, cuyo terminus local estaba en la Avenida Vestisch, aproximadamente en el área del gran bloque de cemento en la actual Plaza de la Unidad Alemana.
