The nature reserve Wald bei Haus Burlo is located in the municipality of Rosendahl in the Coesfeld district of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The area, which covers approximately 223.3 hectares and was designated a nature reserve in 2003, extends northwest of Darfeld, a district of the municipality of Rosendahl. The still frequently traversed Paoters Pättken, a centuries-old path, runs through the forest, which was used by the monks of the nearby Kleinburlo monastery to reach Darfeld. [1] Most of the monastery buildings have now been demolished, but a few auxiliary buildings, including the brewery and a former watermill, have been preserved. To the west of Burloer Wald, the Burloer Bach flows towards the monastery mill and merges a few kilometers further into the Vechte. To the east of Burloer Wald, the state road L 580 runs, and to the south, the L 555.
