Current: The history of "Ahlert's Mill" unfortunately came to an end, it was demolished in April 2023 😢 Such a shame .....
1672 The history of BERKELFUTTER begins in 1672 with the construction of a mill in Coesfeld on the Berkel. Even back then, the water power was utilized to keep the heavy millstones in motion.
In 1891, Josef Rehring took over the mill. The company has been family-owned since then.
In 1926, Georg Ahlert took over the mill. It was then operated as a roller mill.
In 1945, large parts of the buildings were destroyed during World War II. In 1945, the reconstruction of the mill began so that operations could continue.
In 1958, the production of mixed feed was established as a second pillar. Gradually, the focus shifted to this. Grain from the surrounding area could be dried, processed, and stored. As needed, it was then processed into mixed feed and delivered.
In 1960, the agricultural buildings were converted into a silos with a drying facility.
In 1968, new grain silos were built.
In 1970, in the 70s, the business was remodeled again. A new grinding and mixing technology, a feed press, as well as the acquisition of silo trains enabled the processing of "bulk goods" to meet the increasing demand from farmers for feed.
In 2023, as of January 1, 2023, EQUOVIS GmbH takes over BERKELFUTTER.
