An inconspicuous height of less than 80 meters, about five kilometers from Lüneburg, played an important historical role for peace in Europe more than 75 years ago. On May 4, 1945, the partial surrender (for the Northwest German region, the Netherlands and Denmark) took place on the hill with the designation "Timeloberg". The surrender is more commonly known as "Lüneburgerheide.
