At this point we now offer you an overview of the occupancy of the Heimathaus, events and much more.
Since 2012, the Heimatverein Burlo-Borkenwirthe e.V. has been pursuing the idea of saving the heritage-listed, over 200-year-old "Linfert Farmhouse", located on the country road from BorkenBurlo to Südlohn-Oeding, field 12 in Südlohn-Oeding, from final decay, acquiring it and then rebuilding it elsewhere.
In September 2013, the municipality of Südlohn, the lower monument authority, in consultation with the LWL monument office, allowed the translocation from Südlohn-Oeding to Borken-Burlo. This was preceded by years of efforts by various agencies to save the listed building from final decay. The owner had no interest in investing in the restoration. So the building fell into disrepair, also due to the weather (e.g. storm damage)
This typical Westphalian half-timbered farmhouse from the 18th century (1796) was acquired by the local history association, expertly dismantled and the usable parts (especially the wooden frame work), as far as they were still usable for reconstruction, were stored, processed according to the progress of construction and reinserted as true to the original as possible.
After many discussions with the city of Borken about the idea and implementation options, the Burlo-Borkenwirthe local history association was provided with a plot of land at Vennweg No. 10, in the immediate vicinity of the Mariengarden monastery.
Since 2015, the overall project, construction of a local history house (with the listed elements of the Linfert farmhouse), an umbrella shed and a public toilet facility, has been carried out mainly by the local history association itself. Generous financial support is provided by the city of Borken. Donations as well as income from campaigns of the local history association and the Burlo-Borkenwirther associations help to secure the overall financing.
For the construction, the local history association has been able to rely on a large number of volunteers since the beginning (dismantling). The number of club members has grown from 195 to over 320 members since construction began in 2017. Many have consciously joined the association in order to actively support this excellent project. We also find great approval and support from the other local associations. Among others, the SV-Burlo, the KJG-Burlo and the KLJB-Borkenwirthe actively helped with various construction measures.
