The Bock windmill Kottmarsdorf, historically referred to in records by its former owners as "Burkmühle" or "Zimmermannmühle," is a windmill located in the district of Kottmarsdorf in the Saxon municipality of Kottmar. Built in 1843, it is the only remaining one of originally three Bock windmills in the area and is protected as a Technical Monument.
The mill was constructed in 1843 on the 435-meter-high Pfarrberg in the southeast of Kottmarsdorf and was equipped with two grinding circuits and two screens. For exactly 100 years, it was used as a grain mill until 1943. In the following years, the structure was left to decay until in 1961 the Association of Nature and Homeland Friends of Kottmarsdorf, together with the municipality, extensively renovated the windmill and made it accessible as an exhibition facility for the public. After the reunification, the mill was restored again in 1990 and technically renewed, during which the 17-meter-long sails and the rotating beam were replaced, for example. A further technical overhaul of the sails and the rotating mechanism took place in 2014.
