The Buschmühle is a mill complex in the Kirnitzsch Valley, first mentioned in the 16th century in Upper Saxony. Until 1992 it served as the last mill in the Kirnitzsch Valley as a mill, since then it has been a pure restaurant and hiking inn. The mill has been located in the Saxon Switzerland National Park since 1990 and belongs to the Ottendorf district of the city of Sebnitz.
Like the neighbouring Neumannmühle, a few hundred metres further downstream, the Buschmühle was first mentioned in a document in the 16th century. The first miller known by his name was Jonas Kessler, who is mentioned for 1547 in the inheritance book of the district of Hohnstein. In 1576, two plank mills are mentioned at the confluence of the Großer Zschhands with the Kirnitzsch valley, which were the two mills and both belonged to the farmers of Ottendorf. For 1648, there is a purchase contract for the mill, but its buyer can no longer be determined. In 1698, Andreas Sturm and Christoph Friedrich owned the mill, which was still called "Ellmerische Brethmühle" after a previous owner, but was already known as Buschmühle around 1700. At their joint request, they received permission in 1710 to convert the cardboard mill into a grinding mill. In 1721, Sturm took over Friedrich's shares and sold the entire estate to his son of the same name. He sold the mill to Johann Georg Schaffrath from Hertigswalde, who operated it until his death in 1745. In 1770, his son Carl Gottlieb Schaffrath submitted a petition to the Saxon elector Friedrich August III requesting the re-establishment of a cutting alley so that the mill could be used as a plank mill. According to his complaint, the pure mill gives little yield due to its remoteness. Despite the support of the hereditary owners of Ottendorf and Hertigswalde, the application was rejected because of the already existing plank mills in the Kirnitzsch valley. In the same year, the miller died and his wife married the miller Johann Gottfried Glaser for the second time.
