Rückersdorf is a formerly independent village that belonged to the newly formed municipality of Hohwald from 1994, and became a district of Neustadt in Saxony in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains in 2007.
Rückersdorf is situated between the Hohwald and the northern foothills of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The neighboring towns are Neustadt in Saxony and Stolpen. It is surrounded by three elevations: the 436-meter-high Tannenberg to the north, the 437-meter-high Wachberg to the east, and the 380-meter-high Haselberg to the southwest. The Rückersdorfer Bach, also known as Losse, flows through the village and empties into the Polenz.
