Lamsfeld is an inhabited part of the municipality in the district of Lamsfeld-Groß Liebitz of the Schwielochsee community. The Schwielochsee municipality is managed by the Lieberose/Oberspreewald office. In the early modern period, Lamsfeld was the namesake and principal place of the so-called Lamsfeld estates, a non-contiguous property complex of four villages, which today are not only distributed among three municipalities but even across two districts, Dahme-Spreewald and Spree-Neiße. Until the merger in 1974, Lamsfeld was an independent municipality.
Lamsfeld is located about 5.5 km west of Lieberose, just under 14 km southwest of Friedland, and approximately 23 km east-northeast of Lübben. The land of Lamsfeld borders Jessern to the north, Doberburg to the northeast, the core town of Lieberose to the east, Groß Liebitz to the south, and Mochow to the west.
