The place is located directly on the Elbe with the Elbe Cycle Path, just under three kilometers downstream from Bad Schandau. It has a landing stage of the Saxon Shipping Company. The harbor Prossen, located southeast of the village, is part of the federal waterways system. It has been constructed in the extensive floodplain at the confluence of the Lachsbach into the Elbe to protect navigation from floods and ice flow. Construction began in 1921, and it was commissioned on November 5, 1924. The harbor basin is 670 meters long and 90 meters wide.
The harbor also serves water sports enthusiasts and recreational captains. A cultural highlight is the annual regatta celebration held on the third Saturday in January. In 2009, Prossen had 456 residents.
