The lake is located in the municipality of Bad Saarow in the district of Oder-Spree in Brandenburg, approximately 2.5 kilometers northeast of Lake Scharmützelsee. It has an area of 23 hectares and an average depth of 2.3 meters. Its catchment area has a size of 3.5 km². The only surface inflow is the Petersdorf Lake Ditch. The lake is approximately 1100 meters long from southwest to northeast and a maximum of 300 meters wide. Its northwestern shore is characterized by the village of Petersdorf and the state road L 35 that runs parallel to the shore, part of which was filled in during its construction. Forest dominates the southeastern area.
The Petersdorf Lake is eutrophic. The phosphate content was 49.6 µg/l on average in 2003. The visibility depth was 70 cm. The lake is home to eels, perch, bream, carp, roach, rudd, tench, and zander.
