Grüngräbchen is a district of the municipality of Schwepnitz in the district of Bautzen. Until its incorporation in 1996, the Platzdorf was an independent municipality.
Grüngräbchen is located about three kilometers north of Schwepnitz and northwest of Großgrabe, not far from the state border between Saxony and Brandenburg. The Wasserstrich flows through the village, and the creek empties into the Saleskbach at the northern exit of the village. West of the municipality lies the largest Saxon nature reserve, the Königsbrücker Heide. The nature reserves Erlenbruch-Oberbusch Grüngräbchen and Lugteich near Grüngräbchen are located south and north of the village, respectively.
