The old town of Waldenburg is a district belonging to the town of Waldenburg in the Zwickau district. The municipality of Altstadt Waldenburg, with the district of Grünfeld known for the Grünfelder Park, was incorporated into the town of Waldenburg on July 1, 1928.
Altstadt Waldenburg forms the southeastern part of the core city of Waldenburg. The area is separated from the upper town of Waldenburg and the district of Altwaldenburg by the Zwickauer Mulde. South of Altstadt Waldenburg is the district of Grünfeld with the Grünfelder Park. Southeast of Altstadt Waldenburg lies the settlement of Naundorf, named after the deserted village of Naundorf.
