The Eulenmühle is a water mill driven by the Buckau river, located in the district of Bücknitz, which belongs to the town of Ziesar. Additionally, it is a designated residential area. In recent times, the mill has served, among other things, as a small hydropower plant.
Several water mills have historically operated on the Buckau. The Eulenmühle was first documented in 1408. In 1785, Heineccius described it as a "water mill with two milling sections and one oil mill." The mill was owned by the miller, but he had to pay an annual rent to the Ziesar office. In 1782, six people lived at the mill. In 1884, the existing flour mill was modernized. The miller was a Mr. Nuschenpickel. The existing buildings date back to this period. As early as 1918, an initial lighting system was connected to the mill, and electrical energy was generated through hydropower. This supplied the village of Glienecke with electricity. In 1928, the Schmücker family took over the water mill. During World War II, the Eulenmühle was robbed multiple times. However, the mill itself remained undamaged. Until the death of Otto Schmücker in 1961, the mill was used as a grain mill. His son, Otto Schmücker Jr., had the Eulenmühle converted into a sawmill in the 1980s. A saw from the company Goede from the early 20th century was installed for this purpose. In 1982, a new water wheel was also installed. After only 17 years, in 1999, the water wheel was replaced with a larger and more powerful one. This has a diameter of 6.50 meters and a width of 1.30 meters. The Zuppinger wheel has 40 blades and is primarily used for electricity generation. A three-phase generator with a capacity of up to 18 kilowatts is connected to it. The generated electricity is used for the self-supply of the residential area Eulenmühle and fed into the public electricity network. The sawmill is still functional, but it is only operated occasionally. It is mostly used for cutting its own trees. A guesthouse and a restaurant operate in the Eulenmühle. Tours are offered. An annual mill festival takes place on Whit Monday.
