Schnellroda is a village and a former municipality in the Saalekreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The incorporation took place with effect from 1 January 2010 together with the dissolved municipality of Albersroda, into which Schnellroda had been incorporated in 1974.
Schnellroda is located about 700 metres north of Albersroda and was first mentioned in a document in 1142 as Snellendorf. The name Snellenrode is attested for the year 1208. The place originally belonged to Burgscheiden as a Bamberg afterfief with the Bamberg ministerial family of the same name "von Schnellroda". The village and manor of Schnellroda belonged to the von Kannewurf family from 1497 to 1748 and expanded the church, which has since been reformed, as evidenced by a memorial stone from 1665. Below are the families of Rockhausen on church divorces and the counts of Schulenburg on castle divorces. The Hanse family, who owned the manor from 1871, were expropriated in 1945 by the land reform and left the village.
