The solar park Magdeburg is a ground-mounted photovoltaic facility in the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt, Magdeburg, in the Herrenkrug district, north of B 1.
The facility was built on the site of a former landfill at Cracauer Anger. The garbage mountain that accumulated until 1998 is about 52 meters high and required certain precautionary measures during construction. Additionally, there is an operational gas network directly beneath, which limited the frames to a maximum penetration of half a meter into the ground. The construction time lasted a total of five months. It was completed in December 2011 and opened in January 2012.
