Canton of Pollitz

The Canton of Pollitz was an administrative unit in the Kingdom of Westphalia. It existed from 1807 until the dissolution of the kingdom in 1813 and belonged to the Salzwedel district of the Elbe department. In 1810, the district of Salzwedel in the department of the Elbe was dissolved. The canton of Pollitz was assigned to the district of Stendal. The cantonal capital was Pollitz, a district of the municipality of Aland in the district of Stendal.

With the creation of the Kingdom of Westphalia by decree of 18 August 1807, an administrative reform was carried out in 1807 in the previously Prussian territories of Altmark and the Duchy of Magdeburg, which was completed by the formal constitution of the Kingdom of Westphalia on 1 December 1807. The Altmark and the Duchy of Magdeburg, as well as smaller Saxon areas, formed the newly created department of the Elbe, which was divided into four districts.
