The Canton of Jübar was an administrative unit of the Kingdom of Westphalia. It was created in November 1808 by the unification of the cantons of Brome and Klötze and existed until the dissolution of the Kingdom of Westphalia in October 1813. According to the administrative division of the kingdom, it belonged to the Salzwedel district of the Elbe department. The cantonal capital was Jübar in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel .
With a decree of 18 August 1807, Emperor Napoleon created the Kingdom of Westphalia. It consisted mainly of the Electorate of Hesse and Prussian territories. In 1807, in the Treaty of Tilsit, Prussia had to cede the Altmark and the Duchy of Magdeburg, among other parts of the country, which were added to the new kingdom. However, the first and only King Hieronymus Napoleon, brother of Napoleon, did not receive full sovereignty over his kingdom until December 1, 1807. The Department of the Elbe was formed from the Altmark, the Amt of Calvörde of the Principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel and some territories ceded by the Kingdom of Saxony, which was divided into four districts.
