Oelentrup Domain

The estate Oelentrup was an outer farm of the House of Sternberg. The historic buildings have been listed as monuments in the monument register of the municipality of Dörentrup since October 1986.

The largest part of the lands belonging to the castle was located south of the Sternberg Forest. In the 16th century, the sovereign took over the management of the lands and consolidated the previously scattered farms and cottages around Oelentrup. To the north of the castle were likely the pasture areas. It is certain that the estate already existed before 1563, as in that year Hermann Simon, brother of Bernhard VIII, mortgaged the farm in Oldendorf. In 1581, he rented out the dairy farm to Gerlach von Kerßenbrock. The lease was terminated five years later. Count Simon VI often stayed at Oelentrup for extended periods.
Another lease is documented for the year 1610. Albert Dohme rented the dairy farm from 1626 until his death in 1642. Due to the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War, Dohme suffered heavy losses. He was succeeded by the widow Gröne.
