Neunkirchen is the second smallest district of the municipality of Modautal in the Odenwald and the highest located town in the southern Hesse district of Darmstadt-Dieburg.
Neunkirchen is situated in the Vorderer Odenwald at the Neunkircher Höhe, the highest elevation in the Hessian Odenwald. The state road 3399 runs southwest of the town. Neighboring towns are Brandau to the west, Lützelbach to the north-northwest, Steinau to the northeast, Winterkasten to the south, and Gadernheim to the southwest. Another neighboring town is Laudenau to the southeast.
