Goddelsheim is a village in the municipality of Lichtenfels, in Hesse, Germany, with a population of 1450 .
Goddelsheim was founded in 888. The name Goddelsheim is mentioned for the first time in this year in a charter of King Arnulf. Excavations, however, give reason to assume that people lived here well before the 9th century.
The name Goddelsheim is probably a corruption of the name "Guteslebensheim" which means as much as "good place to live".
