Reichenbach is the main town of the municipality of Lautertal in the Bergstraße district of Hesse and its largest district by population. It is located 50 kilometers south of Frankfurt am Main and 33 kilometers north of Heidelberg.
Reichenbach is situated in the center of the upper Lauter valley in the Odenwald. It developed as a closed cluster village in a one-sided valley location. In the village, the Reichenbach flows in from the left and the Graulbach comes from the north, merging with the Felsbach into the Lauter. To the north, the district includes the Felsenmeer, which spreads across the wooded southeast slope of the 514-meter-high Felsberg. To the west, the district extends to the "Teufelsberg," which is preceded by the natural monument "Borstein," and to the southeast it extends to the Hohenstein. The Ohlyturm, built in 1901 on the Felsberg, is the highest point of the Reichenbach district.
