Königsberg is located in the Gleiberger Land. Built on a diabase rock, it is the highest district of the municipality. Near Königsberg, two right tributaries of the Lahn originate: the Bieber source river Strupbach in the north and the immediate tributary Schwalbenbach in the south.
According to oral tradition, Königsberg is very old. It is said that the Frankish King Childerich I. built a border fortress against the Alemanni here around the year 450, but this is not substantiated by any evidence. During random excavations on the old mark, an area of the castle hill, pottery shards were found under heavy slate plates in the 1930s, whose shape indicated urn remains, suggesting that there may be ancient graves there, possibly dating back to the urn field culture.
