The nature reserve Östlicher Teutoburger Wald is located in the municipalities of Augustdorf and Schlangen and the cities of Detmold, Lage, and Oerlinghausen in the Lippe district of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is the second-largest nature reserve in the district.
Since 2004, for Augustdorf, Detmold, Lage, Oerlinghausen, and Schlangen, approximately 2325 hectares have been designated as a nature reserve under the landscape plan No. 14 "Teutoburger Wald" with the designation number LIP-066.
