Schmitzingen is a residential area of the district town of Waldshut-Tiengen in the district of Waldshut in Baden-Württemberg.
Schmitzingen is located in the Southern Black Forest at the transition to the High Rhine, in the valley of the Seltenbach, a direct tributary of the Rhine. The locality is situated in the area of the municipality of Gaiß-Waldkirch, which extends over the upper half of the Seltenbach valley all the way to the mountain ridges in the east and into the Liederbach valley in the west, which also includes the towns of Gaiß and Waldkirch. The locality is about 3.5 km north of Waldshut at half the length of the Seltenbach valley running from north to south at an elevation of 520 m above sea level. The community has the settlement form of a street village and has an elevation difference of about 100 m over a length of approximately 1.2 km.
