KTR Systems GmbH is a German manufacturer of drive components, braking systems, hydraulic components, and cooling systems for machinery and plant engineering. The headquarters is located in the Westphalian city of Rheine.
In 1886, mill builder and technician Franz Tacke founded F. TACKE KG in Westphalian Rheine. In addition to initial repair and maintenance tasks, the construction of transmission systems quickly became the main focus. As the transmissions were later replaced by group and individual drives, the company qualified as a manufacturer of large gears. In this context, the company dealt with the topic of power transmission from the drive through the gearbox to the machine, and developed an elastic coupling for general mechanical engineering in 1908. From then on, the company intensively focused on the development of coupling systems as connecting elements. Ultimately, it was the engineer Karl Haneklaus, employed at Tacke, who invented the curved tooth coupling and filed for a patent in 1959 with Albert Tacke, the eldest son of the family. The curved tooth coupling laid the foundation for Tacke's global success and that of its successor company KTR Systems, which is now one of the largest employers in the city of Rheine.
