The village of Eggerode is a district of the municipality of Schöppingen in the Borken district and has approximately 800 inhabitants.
Near Eggerode, the river Vechte originates. According to a court decision, it is formed by the confluence of the Rockeler Bach and Burloer Bach. The Vechte flows through several towns in Germany and empties into the Zwarte Water in the Netherlands.
