Großspezard, or Groß Spezard, is a district in Oberodenthal within the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis. It is located west of Scheuren on a side road heading north.
The name Groß Spezard originates from the woodpeckers that lived here in the Hardt. The first documented mention dates back to September 20, 1303. In this document, Count Wilhelm of Berg confirms that Großspezard is the property of the Abbey of Altenberg. An existing tax list from 1586 indicates that the village was part of the Honschaft Breidbach in the parish of Odenthal.
