The St. Lukas Clinic is a hospital located in the Solingen district of Ohligs, which is under the sponsorship of the Kplus Group. The clinic has approximately 550 employees. Each year, approximately 12,000 inpatients and 17,000 outpatients are treated.
The roots of the St. Lukas Clinic lie in Carl Fervers' private Ohligs Clinic. He was employed as a doctor until the closure of the hospital in Ohligs in 1934 and wanted to continue to offer the population of Ohligs medical care close to home. For this reason, he founded a private clinic in Merscheider Straße 2, opposite the Old Town Hall, which quickly gained importance. After the Second World War, the hospital received an operating room, and later also a chapel dedicated to St. Luke, the patron saint of doctors. In the meantime, not only private patients have received medical care, but also health insurance patients and people dependent on assistance. Fervers was appointed assistant professor in Bonn in 1950 and head of the department of clinical psychology.
