The Heissiwald wildlife gate is a six-hectare wildlife park in the Bredeney district in the south of the city of Essen.
The enclosure, which is located in the eponymous Heissiwald, was built in 1964 with a group of six fallow deer. In 1982 there were financial problems, which were overcome by a donation from the Stadtsparkasse Essen. In addition, four mouflons were purchased. In 1994, a support association was founded, whose honorary chairman was the politician Antje Huber.
