The St. Hedwig Church is a Roman Catholic church building in the Essen district of Altenessen.
The St. Hedwig Church was built from 1931 to 1932. The architect was Wilhelm Schneider. It is a brick hall building with a raised, hipped roof-covered central part and a recessed rectangular choir. On the longitudinal sides, there are narrow, round-arched windows designed by the artist Jochem Poensgen from the years 1967 and 1969, one side with stone surrounds, and the other side with brick. In the base, there are additional three-part windows with original grilles. The sacristy was built at a right angle to the church, next to which is the tower with a round-arched entrance and round-arched sound openings at the upper end. A two-story, gable-fronted rectory is attached to it. It was also built in brick in 1935. A modern building has been attached to the rear gable side.
