Heimathaus Füchtorf

The Heimatverein Füchtorf has bought the former Niehues bakery for the symbolic price of DM 1.00. On the farm, stand by stand and stone by stone have been carefully removed and rebuilt as a house in the middle of the village.
 
The future will show that this initiative has rendered an invaluable service to the idea of the homeland, as it offers an opportunity to revive the past. Not only is there a lovely half-timbered house on the old school square, but the almost forgotten customs and lifestyles of our ancestors remind us.
Anyone who experiences baking in the stone oven of the Heimathaus in the future will certainly have a closer relationship with bread and the life of an old village.
The reconstruction and renovation of this former bakery has given the necessary impetus to reflect the daily life of parents and grandparents. In particular, it is a question of describing the confusion between the war and the post-war period.
At that time, the previous techniques were reactivated to survive the bad years. What is told here from the village of Füchtorf applies more or less to the whole of Westphalia and northern Germany. It would be a shame if the knowledge of country life of the last hundred years were completely lost.
