The route followed by Queen Christina of Sweden in October 1655 between Tauberbishofsheim via Simmringen to Aub is a kind of a puzzle. Probably she took the ancient Hanze-route from Tauberbischofsheim to Nürnberg, where we find Aub halfway. First through the valleys of the Tauber and the Wittigsbach: Tauberbischofsheim, Grünsfeld, Wittigshausen, Bütthard. Then south-east to Simmringen and finally Aub. The problem is that between Simmringen and Aub no serious road is to be found. Nevertheless a road did exist in the past. On the fragment of a roadmap from 1779 is it clearly visible (Simmringen upper-left, Aub under-right).
For the reconstruction of the Via Christina we used the agricutural concrete-paths to cross this difficult area. Eventually we plotted a more passable way around this area where history has been vanished.
