Following in the footsteps of cargo ships, this 350 km long cycling route takes you along the Dortmund-Ems Canal from the Ruhr metropolis of Dortmund to the North Sea. The beautiful Münsterland is also on your way. Along the route, you can discover both idyllic villages and natural experiences as well as modern cities. Take some time to look at the sights along the canal: for example, the Senden Castle, the Venner Moor, the harbor of Münster, the Steverauen or the Rieselfelder. You will also encounter historical locks, ship lifts, bridges, and harbors that testify to the industrial significance of the waterway. The cycling route is suitable for both hobby and leisure cyclists as well as sportily motivated cyclists. Numerous attractions, many accommodations, and dining establishments make a tour along this route the perfect vacation and excursion destination.
