The Kopernikus-Gymnasium Walsum is a grammar school in the northernmost district of Walsum in the city of Duisburg.
The council of the independent city of Walsum decided on 1 October 1962 to build a grammar school in Walsum on 1 April 1963. The "Municipal mathematical, scientific and modern language grammar school for boys and girls" admitted its first 42 pupils to the Barbara Primary School in Wehofen. Its first headmaster was Paul Melzer. This founding of the school brought a novelty. It was one of the first co-educational grammar schools in North Rhine-Westphalia. In the second year, the Barbara School already had too little space. The school moved to the Graf-von-Stauffenberg-Schule on Goerdelerstraße. The first college excursion could be undertaken with a single car.
