Berghausen is a village and a former municipality in the district of Recklinghausen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. On an area of 1,672 km² almost 400 inhabitants. This makes Berghausen one of the smallest districts in terms of area and population.
Historically, today's district consists of two residential areas: Berghausen immediately southeast of Hillen and Röllinghausen northeast of it and west of Suderwich, on the Bergstraße crossing from the north. However, the district also includes settlements south of Castroper Straße up to the railway line on the territory of the former farming community of Röllinghausen, after which the district of Röllinghausen to the south is named. The district of Berghausen comprises more or less exactly the part that has remained a farm. The Ostcharweg, which leads to the Recklinghausen water tower on the Fritzberg, is the western border of the district and was formerly the western border of the rural community of Recklinghausen.
