The Roman Catholic parish church of St. James is located in Sögel, a municipality in the district of Emsland in Lower Saxony, Germany. It belongs to the diocese of Osnabrück.
The neo-Gothic hall church with polygonal choir, transept and built-in church tower in the west was built between 1867 and 1871 according to a design by Johann Bernhard Hensen. The nave with four bays and the entire choir were covered transversely with gable roofs, the transept also with a gable roof. The tower was originally taller, but it collapsed in 1868. Already in 1871 it was rebuilt in a lower form. On its top floor, behind the sound arcades, is the belfry, in which five church bells hang. Three bells form the large ringing, plus two cymbals. The oldest bell was cast around 1280. Together with a bell from 1996, it forms the cymbal ringing. The large peal consists of two bells that were cast in 1516. Two years later, in 1518, another bell followed.
