The Quirinus Minster is considered an excellent example of sacred architecture in the transition period from Romanesque to Gothic in Germany. It remains the landmark of the city of Neuss. It was built between 1209 and 1230. On October 6, 2009, the church was elevated to the status of a Minor Basilica by Pope Benedict XVI.
