Nerother Little Kyll Valley

Particularly attractive hike with beautiful landscapes, a few difficult ascents, and stunning views. The Vulkaneifel is calm and charming today, but it was once a hellish spectacle. Over the last 65 million years, there have been major eruptions from about 350 eruption centers with a frequency of about every 10,000 years. This geologically interesting low mountain range features this hiking trail with its beautiful nature, rolling hills, and distinctive volcanic cones. Here, the air is still pure, there are still clear streams, deep forests, and quiet valleys with large herds of grazing sheep on the green meadows, not to mention the many healing springs that emerge from the volcanic earth. The hike mainly takes place on lonely paths where you hardly encounter anyone, and where the silence feels disturbing, except for the last part on the Nerother Kopf (647m), where our route merges with the slightly busier Eifelsteig. This tour has no own trail markings, so it is preferable to use the map at a scale of 1:25,000 with a map compass or GPS. Free parking is available in Neroth on Ackerstraße at your convenience.
