On this diverse route, which partially follows the famous Black Forest gorges route, the name says it all: You hike upstream along the Gauchach, past impressive rock galleries and rugged limestone walls, through three gorges past waterfalls. The tour can be shortened at any point. The difficult Engeschlucht can be bypassed, for example, by taking the exit towards Bachheim shortly after the mouth of the Gauchach and following the path through the Burgwald back to the hiking parking lot. Experience, sturdy footwear, and good walking skills are essential on this route. Especially the Engeschlucht is recommended only for experienced hikers; the route runs along the precipice on very narrow paths that can be very slippery when wet. If you do not go through the gorge, the route proceeds along beautiful natural paths that are both well-developed and very well-marked. There is a place to stop in the wild romantic Gauchach gorge near the Burgmühle. On weekends and holidays, a hiking bus runs to the starting point of the route.
