Description by the author

A moderately difficult and wooded tour of approx. 5 km in length with a wonderful route along the Lambsbach stream and past Celtic relics. In addition to the fish pond and the ruins of the Merburg castle in Homburg-Kirrberg, this tour attracts hikers with its shady beech and pine forests. In addition to families, experienced hikers also have an eventful day ahead of them.

The hiking trail had to be closed on one section due to fallen spruce trees! The closure is located between Käshofer Straße and the "Vogelsbrünnchen". The hiking trail leads directly past the Lambsbach. Please note the detour on site!

The Rabenhorst loop is located in the Kirrberg forest and runs parallel to the premium hiking trail "Schlossbergtour" in some places. The Fischerhütte in Kirrberg and the Wohlfühlhotel Rabenhorst with its restaurant and beautiful terrace are perfect places to stop for refreshments. The hike with the raven as a symbol starts at the Karlslust hiking parking lot on the L 120 between Homburg and Käshofen and, after crossing the road, follows the idyllic course along the Lambsbach stream to the "Vogelsbrünnche". Here you can take a break at the bench by the little fountain. The route then continues along a moor to the fish pond and the ruins of the 11th century Merburg castle. This valley castle lies just 12 meters above the water level of the Lambsbach stream on a sandstone block, the Malafels. It is one of the smallest castles in Saarland and was restored to its historical state between 1975 and 1980. The remains of the former tower and the castle wall, which have been restored, are clearly visible. The route leads through a beautiful mossy pine forest to the Wohlfühlhotel Rabenhorst with a Celtic grave just around the corner. The last third of the hike delights with natural paths and ends at the L 462 via a path back to Karlslust.
