Pfänderbachtal Runde

A tour with a crisp ascent of approx. 8 km in length, which combines the idyllic Pfänderbach Valley as the core zone of the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve with the fields of the Ohligberg and the excavations of the Roman Museum. The hike is suitable for active families as well as experienced hikers.

The Pfänderbachtal loop is a moderately difficult hiking trail with several highlights, with the Einöd ski and hiking hut as the perfect place to stop for refreshments. The route is often on asphalt and gravel paths. At the start of the loop, it leads directly onto the natural path into the idyllic Pfänderbach valley. This is followed by the only ascent on the tour, which leads to the mountain farms in Einöd. This is home to many horses and Hans Pick's family in their oil mill. It would make more sense to call the Ohligberg the "oil mountain", because up here Hans has exchanged the "head-sized lump of gold", as described in the fairy tale, for oilseeds of all kinds, which thrive magnificently in the surrounding fields. Gold-of-pleasure oil, mustard oil, milk thistle oil, rapeseed oil, poppy seed oil and hemp oil are on sale in the farm store. After the mountain farms, the hiking trail leads back through the forest to Homburg-Schwarzenacker and past the excavations of the Roman Museum back to the Einöd ski and hiking hut. This is a great place to take a break when the hut is open.
