Around an hours drive south of Berlin, streams and ditches crisscross the landscape like a labyrinth. Here, you can find the typical Spreewald wooden houses and villages, often only accessible by water. It is wonderfully quiet, with only the sounds of nature and the paddle strokes through the water to be heard. The views into the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Spreewald are indescribably beautiful. A protected variety of animals and plants greets the water wanderer. It is quite possible to spot storks, kingfishers, ospreys, or cranes during this multi-day round trip on the Spreewald streams. In addition to the impressive nature, at every point along this route, legendary stories of the Snake King, the Lutken, and above all, of the people of this region, the Sorbs and Wends, with their vibrant traditions, can be experienced. Starting from Lübben, or any other point along the route, the paddle adventure can begin. The tour can be comfortably completed in 3 to 4 day stages (15 to 20 km per day) with overnight stays in Lübben, Lübbenau, and Burg.
