These dimensions are spectacular. More than 20 new lakes will emerge in the coming years between Brandenburg and Saxony - the largest man-made water landscape in Europe. Where lignite coal has shaped the landscape for decades, the former open-pit mines are now being flooded. A new water and holiday paradise is emerging, which can be actively admired from the bike. Although not all lakes have reached their final water level yet, many places are already attracting visitors with sandy beaches, water sports facilities, and great holiday camps.On the section of the total 191 km long Lakeside Route, cyclists can experience the landscape change live.
