Description by the author

On this tour of about 43 kilometres in length you will come across unique church buildings that are definitely worth exploring. After your start at the Schlossremise tourist information centre, the first stopover will be at the Wendisch-German twin church – a building that is unique in Germany, featuring fascinating architecture and history. The Catholic Church of the Holy Family in the north of the town was built in 1897 as a striking brick structure. The bell tower next to the church dates from 1971. You then carry on via Märkischheide, turning off for Eichov when you get half way to Babow. The eight-sided pointed spire of the church tower in Krieschov is a now a characteristic and clearly visible landmark that was erected in the 17th century. Via Wiesendorf you get to Wüstenhain, the first known documentary reference to which was made in 1377. Here the village church is a simple structure made of field stones and bricks that was built from 1860 to 1863. The bell gables mounted on the western side give the church a touch of Mediterranean flair. Via Laasov with its small Gothic church you get to Ogrosen. The church tower here was built between 1220 and 1260 using stone blocks so it is one of the oldest sacred buildings in Lower Lusatia. Other interesting buildings along this route include the neo-Gothic church dating from 1887 in Missen and the village church in Gahlen which dates back to the 13th century.
