Description by the author

This stage of the tour is rich in aquatic landscapes – it even includes a ferry trip in Ketzin. The Havelland region also comes into its own here as ideal terrain for cycling. The highlights are Paretz Palace and the town of Werder (Havel), famous for its tree blossom festival and historic town centre.

On this seventh stage of the FONTANE.RAD cycle tour, there are numerous detour options to Fontane villages to the left and right of the main route. Fontane loved the scenery around Brieselang and Finkenkrug with its extensive forest areas. The tour winds along the Havel canal towards Ketzin/Havel, first to Falkenrehde and then with a detour via Etzin to Paretz. Here, the listed, restored palace complex in the well-preserved historic town centre gives the visitor impression of walking in times long past. A detour to the north of Potsdam also provides the opportunity of a visit to Fahrland via Uetz and Marquardt. The FONTANE.RAD route continues on through the Havelland aquatic landscape of Paretz to Ketzin/Havel and then by ferry to the town of Werder (Havel), famous for its tree blossom festival, with a historic town centre that is beautifully situated on an island.
