The bicycle circuit: Skate and cycle on the finest tarmac. The two- to three-metre-wide tracks cover a total of around 230 kilometres with eight circular routes through Niederer Fläming and the Baruther Urstromtal Valley, and form Europe's largest connected skate and cycle paradise. While it is possible and of course great fun to cycle the whole Flaeming-Skate, the Rundkurs 8 circular route provides more than 80 kilometres specially suited to bicycle tours. The eastern section follows the route of the Dahmeradweg Cycle Path, mostly accompanying the river and for the most part covering bicycle and agricultural roads away from cars. If you wish, you can even follow the Dahmeradweg Cycle Path all the way to the source of the River Dahme in Kolpien.
The entire Rundkurs 8 circular route testifies to the agricultural way of life that has predominated here since the region was first settled – the typical fieldstone churches are particularly striking. Many preserved windmills are not only great for a photo, but also interesting industrial monuments. Johannismühle Wildlife Park invites you on a walk through its expansive woodland, meadow and pond landscape. Indigenous animal species can be observed without fences, in the wild and in some cases in enclosures, in the nature park. Right next door, the museum village of Glashütte offers an insight into the history of glass production in the region. The entire area surrounding the museum village offers lots of possibilities to pause for contemplation, outlets and workshops to browse, and plenty of space to unwind.
Please note: Maintenance and care of the tracks is one of the ongoing tasks in the Flaeming-Skate region. This means there are occasionally short-term restrictions on sections of individual routes. Please see the Flaeming-Skate website to find out more about this in good time before your arrival.
