At the historic Spreewehrmühle, which was built in 1797 as an oil and groat mill and can be visited by appointment, today a excursion restaurant awaits its guests. Boat channels and rapids give the tour into the Spreewald a sporty touch. As a special experience, you will cross the Spreeaue - however, a little skill and dexterity are required here, as the current in this section is quite fast and the Spree is also reasonably wide. After passing two boat channels, you reach Maiberg and the Laßzinswiesen. This open, barely intersected wetland is protected. With a bit of luck, you can spot water buffaloes. Also, Tarpan horses, the bred-back primal horses, and Aurochs live here. The x in Oxen is intentional, as it stands for a breeding program that aims to come as close as possible to the primal cattle. At the end of the tour, you reach the dreamy Burg, in the heart of the Spreewald. Here you will find a good selection of restaurants and opportunities for rest and shopping. Ideal for ending your excursion in a relaxed manner.
