Before entering it, you pass by the open, protected Steinschlägergrube quarry near Sperlingsherberge. Here, huge erratic boulders bear witness to the events during the Ice Age.Initially, the path leads through the buffer zone, which is used for forestry and therefore houses a variety of different-aged beech trees. It continues into the World Natural Heritage site.
